Why is it so quiet?

Posted in ColdFusion, Rants by rip747 on March 20, 2007

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that things are slowing down lately in CF land. Last year was so exciting with everything going on, it now seems dead. What’s going on with Model-Glue? Where is Reactor at? These were two HUGE news items last year and I haven’t heard anything juicy on either of these projects in sometime.

Last thing I heard was that Model-Glue was trying to “hire” people to continue development. Don’t know what that exactly means for the framework itself, but it could be anyone’s guess. From looking at the SVN repo, it still seems that it at Rev 286, which it has been for quite sometime.

Today I also went over to the Reactor camp and poked around seeing if anything was shaking. Not much going on over there either.

Obviously I’m not trying to hit on these projects as I know that life takes it’s toll on people and your priorities change with each waking day. I also know that doing a project for free and in your spare time can be exhausting. I just wish that something would come out of these camps telling us what is going on. Even if it’s a post saying that their just working on cleaning up code and fixing bugs.

Apollo seems to be exploding today on the blogs. This will probably be a big thing for a while.

    Hi Tony,

Don’t forget that Farcry 4.0 has been in beta for a while now and is set to be released this month.

There has been quite a few posts not only from Daemon people (the creators of Farcry) but developers in the community as well.

This is an extremely exciting release as it really helps to distinguish Farcry not only as a framework, but a frameworks which also comes with an optional CMS “out of the box”!

    Nice🙂

Hi, i think there is loads going on, just take a look at RIAforge. I think that there isn’t a unified buzz about single projects, but thats because so much is going on.

It takes a little more probing now to find projects that interest oneself, where as before, there where fewer projects, so when a new project come along everyone checked it out and created a buzz about it.

Keep an eye out in a few weeks, at cfObjective I shall be releasing a secret project that might increase that buzz you so seek😉
