After what seemed like an eternity, we finally got a beta release of CFWheels 1.1 out the door. This has taken quite a bit of time and many new features and fixes are included in this release. I encourage everyone using 1.0.x to try to upgrade their applications on a separate branch in their development environment and report back any errors that you may encounter.
I personally want to thank the entire core team for all their hard work in getting this release done. I have the honor of working with a wonderful and talented group of guys and it what makes working on CFWheels a lot of fun.
One of the biggest changes in this release is that we’re dropping support for Adobe ColdFusion (ACF) 8.0.0. The reason for this is that the 8.0.1 updater has been out for quite sometime and contains some important updates in order to get CFWheels running. If you haven’t upgraded your version of ACF yet, visit the Adobe update page and please do.
Also there were issues with older versions of Railo prior to 3.1.2.020 and CFWheels. Because of this, CFWheels 1.1 requires that you run the latest 3.1.2.020 build of Railo. The Railo team has done a tremendous job in tracking down and eliminating bugs and compatibility problems with each release and this one is no exception. The entire Railo team came to our rescue many times during the development of 1.1. Every time we had an issue or a question, they worked hard to provide a fix or answer to us as fast as they could and that really helped us keep things moving along.
Over the next month I’m going to try to buckle down and write up some posts on what’s new as we move to the final release of CFWheels 1.1. Stayed tuned 😛
